ABOUT management

The Nair Service Society, a synonym for selfless service and social commitment was founded by the late Sri. Mannathu Padmanabhan on 31- 10 - 1914. It came into being at a crucial stage in the history of the Nair community which was facing a crisis brought about by disunity and blind adherence to outmoded customs, beliefs and practices. They had a glorious past .but ignorance, accumulated over centuries, reinforced by inadequate education, proved disastrous for the community. Their predilection for celebrations and penchant for ceremonial occasions fuelled by a strong affinity towards profligacy and extravaganza, contributed to their decline and downfall. Anti Ragging Cell

Ragging is a criminal offence. NSS College Rajakumari has a zero tolerance policy towards ragging-related matters. All issues in this regard will be dealt with utmost urgency and stringent action will be taken against those who are involved.

A copy of UGC regulations on curbing the menace of ragging have been distributed to all students upon admission and have procured undertakings and affidavits from the students as well as parents in this regard. Ragging in all its forms is totally banned in this university including in its departments, constituent units, all its premises (academic, residential, sports, cafeteria, library, internet centre etc.) whether located within the campus or outside and in all means of transportation of students whetherpublic or private.

Complying with the directives of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India, the Institute has formed the following anti –ragging committee and squad for overseeing the implementation of the provisions of the verdict with immediate effect:

Parents Teachers Association

The parent teacher association is fuctioning in the college to foster good relationship among teacher, student and guardians of student. It creates a healthy climate in the campus for the maintenance of discipline and high academic standard. All teachers of the college and guardians of students are members of the association. The guardian of each student shall join the association by paying membership fee at the time of admission.The PTA supports the college with financial assistance for laboratory maintenance and to meet the routine day to day expenses of the college. Annual PTA general body meeting is generally convened in January every year to reconstitute the PTA executive committee and to discuss the general academic and administrative affairs of the college.The college supports all the research activities with the available resource from PTA fund and management fund. At present, there is no provision in the institution to provide seed money to the faculty for research.


The National Service Scheme unit in our college with a strength of 200 volunteers working for social, economic and educational welfare of society. Under the scheme, each volunteer contributes 240 hours of community work during a period of two years. The NSS unit of our college regularly conducts a number of activities such as cleaning drives, various awareness programs, relief work, environmental protection etc. Also a mid-day meal is served to the inmates of Good Samaritan Mercy Home, Kulapparachal. twice a week. A campaign on organ donation and taking care of a vegetable garden in our campus are the other extracurricular activities of National Service Scheme unit of the college.The National Service Scheme unit of the college is providing a mid-day meal to the members of a nearby old-age home. Students and teachers of the Department of Electronics have been visiting the old-age home, Good Samaritan Mercy Home, Kulapparachal, in the past few years and providing the necessary groceries during the festival seasons.The National Service Scheme Unit of the college organised several environmental activities like planting trees, cleaning the campus and keeping the campus a plastic free zone. Nature Clubs

Aim: Let the students understand the importance of preserving the environment and passing it on to the future generations. Mission: Enable the young generation to live in harmony with nature.
Kurinjikoottam nature club of NSS College, Rajakumari was formally inaugurated by Dr. Ramachandran Nair, Former Principal, SVRNSS College,Vazhoor, who is a hardcore environmentalist and President, Meenachil River Protection Forum. In January 2014, 30 students including boys and girls attended a three day nature education camp at Pampadumchola National Park. It was organized in collaboration with The Dept. of Forest & Wildlife, Govt. of Kerala. Programs in the camp included classes by forest officials, video presentations and trekking. The rare sight of wild animals like Wild Goar, Giant Squirrel, Giant Redtailed mongoose and several birds gave a thrilling experience to the participants
Activities of the Kurinjikkoottam Nature club was inaugurated by eminent scholar and naturalist Mr. Jesson T. Das in an august function which was presided over by our prinicipal Dr. Lathabai. After the inaugural session, Mr. Jesson did a highly informative presentation on “ The Biodiversity of Western Ghats”, which was appreciated by the students and staff members. In February 2015 the members of the nature club went for a one day trip to Iddukki dam, the biggest arch dam in Asia. They were given a guided tour in Idukki in which the salient features of the Idukki arch dam was explained to them.

Women's cell

The College has established a Women Cell in the college campus for the women faculty, staff and girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for them. With an aim of creating awareness of their rights and duties the cell organizes and participates in seminars, talks and also takes up women’s issues and problems. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. Aiming at intellectual and social upliftment of the female students, the cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes life skill training programmes, entrepreneur training and other welfare activities. The main objectives are "To enhance the self-esteem and self-confidence of women students, faculty and staff in the college, To promote intellectual and cultural activities for overall personality development of student,To develop critical thinking ability of women students such that it enhances decision-making ability,To enable women to make informed choices in areas like education, employment and health especially reproductive health And To enhance their participation on an equal footing in all areas."
